Periodontal Disease Treatment
Treatment of advanced periodontitis
Advanced periodontitis requires intensive professional care.
Advanced periodontitis requires intensive professional care. At this stage of the disease, routine dental hygiene is no longer sufficient — the bone around the teeth is compromised, periodontal pockets are deeper, and home cleaning simply cannot reach the inflammation. The goal of treatment is to stop bone loss, reduce inflammation, and stabilize the teeth so that the patient does not lose their natural teeth.
How we proceed
Treatment begins with thorough diagnosis — we measure the depth of periodontal pockets, evaluate X-ray images, and based on the severity of findings, we create an individual treatment plan. At our clinic, we offer:
- Deep cleaning of periodontal pockets (curettage or deep scaling) – removal of bacteria below the gum line using special ultrasonic instruments that help reduce inflammation and improve gum health.
- Antibiotic therapy – in indicated cases, we prescribe targeted antibiotics that help eliminate infections and support gum healing.
- Regenerative surgery – if bone loss has occurred, it is possible to partially restore it using guided tissue regeneration, which promotes the regeneration of tissues and bone around the teeth.
After treatment, regular care is key
Advanced periodontitis cannot be cured with a single visit — even after successful treatment, it remains a chronic disease that requires regular monitoring. We recommend maintenance dental hygiene every three months, supplemented by thorough home care (interdental brushes, proper cleaning technique, smoking cessation). With this regimen, your teeth can remain stable for many years.
