New Smile, Complete Reconstruction
How long does a complete dental reconstruction take?
The duration of dental reconstruction depends on the scope of procedures and the individual needs of the patient.
Complete dental reconstruction is a complex procedure that combines several dental disciplines — from surgery and implantology through endodontics to prosthodontics and aesthetic dentistry. The goal is to restore not only a beautiful smile to the patient, but above all full dental function, correct bite and long-term oral health. Many patients naturally wonder before starting treatment how long the entire process will actually take.
Duration of reconstruction according to scope
The duration of dental reconstruction depends on the scope of procedures and the individual needs of the patient. Generally, the following approximate timeframes apply:
- For simpler cases: a few weeks – for example, denture replacement, application of veneers or fabrication of several crowns. These procedures can often be completed within two to four visits.
- Complex reconstruction: 3 to 6 months – when combining implants, gum treatment and other procedures. In this timeframe, it is necessary to account for the healing period between individual phases of treatment.
- More demanding cases: 6 to 12 months – if longer healing is needed after extractions, bone augmentation or gum treatment. In patients with advanced periodontitis or significant bone tissue deficiency, the entire process may take even longer.
What affects the overall time
The overall reconstruction time depends on the speed of the body's healing, the quality of bone tissue, the materials used and the individual treatment plan. The patient's overall health status, smoking, hygiene habits and compliance with the dentist's instructions also play an important role. In patients with diabetes or other systemic diseases, healing may take somewhat longer. Before starting treatment, we always create a detailed timeline that we discuss thoroughly with the patient.
We plan the treatment so that you feel comfortable throughout and can function without problems. Between individual phases, we always apply provisional solutions, so you don't have to worry about aesthetic or functional limitations. The goal is for the final reconstruction to last many years — so the investment of time in quality work is definitely worth it.
