The best denture adhesive – experiences and discussion

Many patients who wear dentures wonder how to ensure that their dentures stay firmly in place.

With properly made dentures and suitable gums and bone, adhesive may not be necessary at all. However, many patients benefit from denture adhesives.

Why use denture adhesive? Over time, minor changes in the jaw or gums may cause dentures to not fit as tightly. Adhesive can increase stability when eating and speaking, reduce abrasions, extend the feeling of security throughout the day, and improve overall comfort.

How to choose the best denture adhesive? Consider: the strength of fixation (short-term or all-day), form (cream, powder or tape), gum sensitivity, and ease of cleaning.

Most frequently recommended adhesives:

  • Corega – popular for strong hold and different variants.
  • Fittydent – praised for water resistance and long-lasting hold.
  • Protefix – frequent choice for sensitive gums.

Important warning Use of adhesive must not replace regular dentist check-ups. A properly fitting denture is essential, and adhesive should only aid, not solve poorly fitting dentures.
